Been starting to hunt about 1.5 acre 1920's church property this week with permission. Started in the parking area, and starting to slowly get into the lawn. Three days so far, about 8 hours total. Nothing real special yet, but a few older wheaties, including a 1920, 1935, 1936, & 1944.
Also two small rings, one being either aluminum or nickel, and the other being copper with what might be silver plating (or nickel). I definitely believe someone has worked this for easy stuff, as everything I have found has been either deep (& under tree roots), directly in the driving area, or masked by trash.

Here's the tally so far:

Nice finds Chip! Now that you have some of the iffy signals out you'll get to the older stuff. Good luck on the next hunt!
