I was looking thru the change at work the other night an found this 1939 nickel,Got home an looked it up in the redbook an found out there is a double die variety I compared it with the picture in the redbook 2009 page 130 an I'm pretty sure it is the double die, however I'm not sure what to look for...all new to this coin stuff... Let me know what you people think.... thanks

Creeper - it's real hard to tell from the pic. - is there any way to get a closer shot? see if you could isolat just the lower half of the coin. That would be great if it is buddy!

If you have a scanner, try playing with it. I have Photoshop, as well as Paint Shop Pro, which for about $10, does everything you would ever want or need with a scanner. Even a basic scanner can be set up to where you can view finds like an electron microscope. Plus go online and check specifically about the type and date of your error. good luck,
Carl

Check on google too Rob. Often you can find an image of coin with your special issue.

PS Great find.

I tried to get a bigger pic, can't get it to come out clear... I did click the photo on here an it opened in the photo impressions 4 an if you magnify it on there it stays clear enough to see
