I was digging through some old coins in my house, when I came across this piece of work! From the looks of this coin it literally looks like a deformed coin. Now I want to know if it was done by the mint or by some deranged citizen. Also, if indeed it was mutilated by the mint, how much money would this special coin be worth approximately? Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you so much!

1) It weighs 3.1g.
2) As you can see it is missing the "L" and "Y" in Liberty.
3) On Lincolns collar and right next to his nose, there seems to be some sort of indent.
4) If you look closely, you can see the the "W" in "we" is higher than the rest of the letters.
5) Overall it just looks bent out of shape. (by a machine)
6) On the back of the coin, in the "Lincoln memorial" and above the word "cent" there are what looks like heat abrasions to the coin.
7) On the back of the coin, the left border of the coin appears to be protruding over some of the letters.

I'm sorry about that. I had to "dumb" down the quality of the pics because there is a MB limit on uploads.

Thank you for the quick replies! I have had other coins go through the washer/dryer, and none came out looking like this. If anything they came out cleaner!

Just a beat up Lincoln. I've seen far worse.

To help determine if an anomaly may be an error, ask yourself if there is any stage or step in the manufacturing of a coin that could cause what you see.

If coins are to become a serious hobby, this becomes a fundamental question.

Time for an iced coffee.
