I hunted a German soccer field this evening for about two hours. It was an American baseball field, ball field is still there as well and is close to a Celtic grave site. However, it is just a run down soccer field now. I was not finding much and started getting sloppy about digging, just sliding the shovel under the dirt and pulling up, was easy digging, wet and the holes filled perfectly. Well, I had a nice target and thought it was another pull tab, slid the shovel in and hit something, the top 3” is a nice sand pack so I thought it was odd I hit something. Pulled the flap up and there was a coin, not just a coin but a token, an American token, a very rare and only American token find for me here in Germany. Here’s the finds. Obverse of $.61 American cents, a German 2 Mark coin and a Token in the middle. I really like tokens!!!
Reverse of the finds, note the token in the middle!
Up close view of the token, I hit it, slashed it, trashed it, and gutted it. At least it was not a Celtic gold coin or other ancient relic. I really did not think I would find anything here worth a crap. Excuse me, I think I’m going to be sick. HH, Mike
