Well if you have read Rick's post you know we when coin popping tonight to drive up the silver count before the end of the year. Rick was first on the board with a couple of late model silvers, we had been hunting for nearly 4 hours before I got my first good coin and boy was it a good one. 1801, 2 Reale......... IN A PARK for crying out load. That was the last thing I expected to get there but you just never know. The next 2 coins I dug were 1 dollar loonies.:hello2:

The gun is a toy but the bullet is real.

Thanks Tom, I lived out west for a while, everything seems new there, but you have some awesome ghost towns in your area.

Yes stuff lost by the '49ers. Native gold, and california fractional gold, I'd love one of those.

Thanks everyone for your nice comments. I will say I was quite surprised by it, that is exactly why I don't go coin popping with a screwdriver. I don't want to be stabbing at old silver like that.

Dido.

Love that big silver Dave. It's amazing you found it among all the modern stuff. Beautiful coin!
Thanks Bill, that's the thing I love about this hobby, you never know when or where and old artifact or coin will show it self. I think it's safe to say that any park on the east coast from Key West to Quebec City could turn up something like this or even better.

Awesome 2 Real! That's what makes MDing such a rush, you just never know what you're going find. Great hunt!

Missed this post some how.

What a great looking silver and out of a park is what makes a hunt for sure, totally not what one would expect. Sure it seems easy to dig one for many, but I'm still waiting for that day that one is in the soil looking back at me.
