I went back out to the cliff where i found two seated dimes last time and managed to get an 1892 barber dime after three cold hours of searching. It was about 33 and there was a snow shower near the end of the hunt. The dime was 7 inches deep in a hole that I started to dig but gave up in the last hunt. It gave off a typical hotrock signal, mostly iron tones with the repeatable pop to 95. I dug and found water, but I kept grabbing the dirt out with my hand and pulled out the dime. It got a few surface scrapes from the slate filled dirt, but it was worth digging up and nearly freezing my hand from the cold. It's the second 1892 and 13th barber and 20th pre mercury dime from the site, evening the penny dime ratio to 1:1

being new to the dfx, you said you had a hot rock signal, what made you decide to dig that.as I am curious since I get hot rock signals and bypass them, should I raise the coil to see if its still a hot rock signal?

Sounds like a great spot. Congrats on the silver.

If it's deep and has a consistent high tone, dig it. It won't be a coin 100% of the time, but it could be. The DFX has a hard time discriminating past 6", so you just have to use pinpoint mode as well, look for the deepest signals, and dig them up.

wow great condition way to go any idea of the vaule thanks

Well it's a common date, only about $20. Before Thanksgiving, I found a rarer 92O dime and 92 barber quarter that were worth about $75 each. But it's still a nice find and much better than a merc or a rosie!

super find love those barbers ;) congrats !

All I can say is Nice!

If I found that it would be priceless to me lol

Hey 88... nice going

Finding a site that keeps producing old coins is really special. Glad that you have one to pull out barbers, large cents, IH, seat liberties, etc.

What about V nickels... any luck on the site finding those?

Way to hang in there in the inclement weather.
