Man that is AWESOME!!!

Okay, now it's time to read the fine print. You must immediately send all of that silver to someone on the forum. The rule promotes friendliness and overall good cheer. I can provide you with an address or we will just take your word you will send them. Nice Haul, Jim

Thanks...who wouldve thought it could be so easy to collect silver coins. If i only thought of this years ago I wouldve had a nice stash...sucks cause Im stationed overseas so its very tought to hit up banks for rolls plus they dont do any ordering of halves (or so they say) .

Nice! If that's not beginner's luck, I don't know what is. AMC

This is getting to be addicting...Im heading out to all the banks at the nearby bases for more halves.

Where are you stationed. Maybe local silver.

Grats on your early success.

That solid 90% roll sure is sick... I remember seeing the pictures on a different thread.

Hope your luck keeps up!

When the U.S. makes a base on a foreign land they pretty much build their own little city there, banks and all included.

So that probably explains his access to coins.

I understand why they have us coins there but i have never seen a 15.00 roll

$15 roll is weird... but then again, someone just posted here about getting a couple $20 rolls. There was also a post about custom made rolls being found at the bank that were made out of notebook paper. They could have actually been the same as the $20 rolls come to think of it... not sure.

Never know what you will find when you CRH! =)

It looked like it was rolled out of printer paper so it was definitely customer rolled, either that or the bank itself took some printer paper and rolled $15 worth. It really sucks with 2 banks on post so it looks like I will have to drive out to other posts and see if i can find more halves. They said they cant even order them for me which I find kind of odd, so really where do they order their other coins from...surely not from the German government ???

Man 'o man Rod, you might be at the tip of in iceberg. Maybe, just maybe when the bases were set up the US government sent over so much coinage and cash. Since halves do not circulate very well they could be sitting there just waiting for someone to ask for them.

Good Luck.

I dont know but Im hoping that I get a decent turnout at the other banks. On a side note I told my dad about what Im doing now and he gave it a try, on the first $15 of halves he got 3 40%ers and 1 90% Kennedy. He stoped at another bank two days ago and they only had a $15 roll so he bought and lo and behold the roll had 28 1964 Kennedy's and 2 were from 71 and 73...so his 90% silver count stands at 29 with 3 40%ers. He has only spent a total of $30 so far...

I must say that he is in a prime place to do CRH because I doubt that in Puerto Rico, coin roll hunting is any popular. I bet there is only but a few people that do it...I really believe he is in virgin terriotry ;D

Quick update...no luck with my Saturday run but I just talked to my dad in Puerto Rico and he found a 1942 Walking Liberty so after cashing less than $100 worth of halves he now has....

33- 1964 Kennedy Halves
1- Walking Liberty
15- 1965-1969 Kennedy Halves

That is freaking unbelievable...he asked me where to sell them if he needs to so I told him he could sell them on Ebay for 10x face value rather easily for the 90%ers. Problem is he doesnt have an Ebay account and doesnt know too much about how it works so Im thinking that I could pay him 5x Face value for the 90%ers. He gets extra cash and we both win or I could have him send them to me and I could sell them on Ebay for him. I'm torn as to what to do and I really do not want him to sell to a local dealer because they will just give him next to nothing for them

Any suggestions if he were to decide to sell???

Sounds like local dealers down there are not reputable? Dealers near me and near many others in the lower 48 get paid quite fairly.

I'm shocked he would even find any there... let alone so many in such a small amount. It is not the type of place that would traditionally have old silver coins so much...

As far as him selling them. If you are collecting silver as an investment rather than to sell them and turn a quick a profit, then you can buy them from him for a lot more than just 5x face. If you buy 90% coins from a local dealer, you will be charged a lot more than that, so you can up your price a little and still get cheap 90% coinage.

As far as him selling them... you can tell him to educate himself on the workings of ebay and get an account (it would benefit him if he has the time and willingness to learn)... or you can buy them.

Grats on both of your early success... just hope you both don't get it stuck in your heads that the going will always be that good. ;)
