I decided to go out detecting again this afternoon while the gf went car shopping, lol. I went back to the place Cjon455 and I went on our first day hunting. On that day we were both soaked with sweat and rain and he had been up since the night before. There was also a lightning storm that made me certain we had probably rushed a bit in the small yard. That day, I got 3 silvers and Chris got a war nickel and some nice relics. Today I got 2 Indians, 2 Wheats, a little buckle and some junk. On our second hunt, Chris shared his ATP settings with me when he discovered mine was almost discriminating Indians out. Thanks, Chris! You made today possible, lol.

An IH penny is right at the top of my "GOD I WISH I COULD FIND ONE" list. I've been hunting homes old enough to potentially have one/some but so far no luck. And here you rub it in by finding two in the same hunt. Jealous, you better believe it! Happy for you......without a doubt!!!

Tom says he will plant one at your next hunt cause he was raised to respect his elders, lol.

Don't worry, yours is coming soon. I hadn't found one yet back in the spring. I've had 3 hunts now that gave me at least 1. I have to start looking for a seated or barber now!

Tom has a crusty oxidized IH penny and he keeps saying he's going to bury it at 4" deep and tell me what it hits on his Deus as we both use the same machine. I'm figuring they should have a similar TID to a copper penny and I certainly dig up enough of those. I just want to know for certain where they'll hit in case I'm not digging something I should.

It's good to hunt with someone that has the same machine so you can compare readings and tones on a target. Unless I dig a lot of something in an area, like shell brass for example, it's hard for me not to dig a repeating signal nickel or over. Whadifind, Cjon and I all use the same and are hoping to get together soon for a 3 person hunt. That should be fun and informative.

Congrats on the IHs. That 1890 is in pretty sweet shape.

I wish I could remember, Treb. I think low 70's? Not sure, sorry. I usually just go with the tone and will look at the numbers once I hear a good one.

I've dug em anywhere from 68 to 74

Ok enough enough already lol, u r killing me! Nah just kidding, congrats on the indians, I really like the settings I use and am glad they worked out for you! Yes we did rush thru that site too quickly that time. I still wanna try that lady down the road who asked for "proof" of what we do.
For anyone who's interested in the atpro settings:

Pro-zero mode, full sensitivity, iron discrimination 40.
Has worked well for me, and now for old dude!

Thanks for this info guys!

Just for comparison ... on my AT Pro I use Pro-Zero, Sensitivity at 7 of 8, Iron Descrim at 35.

Nice finds Dave!
Love the verdigris on the IH and the detail on the buckle is cool!

Sure wish the first IH I found this year looked as good as yours! :laughing7:

Dave
