2nd Merc in as Many Days and Chinese Token

Well, it rained this morning so went to see Shrek the Third with the wife - funny movie, instead of detecting. It was calm this afternoon, so got out to a school playground I had never been to before. The playground was pea gravel instead of wood chips or sand. Got a lot of hits that were below the sand layer. I didn't have my diggin tool with me because I usually don't bring that when I'm in a playground. Hunted for 1 1/2 hours and found about $1.50 in clad, some trinkets, and believe it or not, my 2nd Merc, 1943. Was surprised to see that, as the school was built in the 60's, and the playground is fairly new. Also found one of those chinese tokens.

I'm also posting my "trash" from the last two days. My trash doesn't include a 13 gallon trash bag of flat top beer cans that I cleared out of my old park that I'm hunting.

Mercs are always nice to find - congrats. Gotta wonder how a Chinese Cash Coin ended up in a school that was built in the 1960's. It wasn't deep? You said you didn't have your digging tool with you, so I am assuming the coin was shallow.

Thanks, All. Just wanted to mention that I posted the trash (I usually don't ) so that Newbies realize, there is usually a lot of trash dug to get to the treasure. I hunt in carpenters pants, and I actually have a caribineer on my hammer loop that I attach a canvas bag (12"x18") to that I can put my trash in while I'm hunting. It has more in it than my carpenters pouch that I use for my goodies. This forum has taught me to not get discouraged by the trash. As I learn my machine, and learn techniques from veterans here, my finds improve, but trash will always be a constant. By the way, some of that trash is "eyesight". I pick up all trash I see, not just detected.

Great hunting and sweet merc. Really enjoyed the trash as well,I hate those wires they use to tie fences with,they sound good enough to dig and the numbers are close a lot of the time. Im with you I pick up a lot of trash that I see laying around,especially if its in a really clean area. So many times I go out of my line to pick up some trash I will dig a coin on the way,its almost like good karma or something for me. Next time you see an empty pop bottle laying 10 feet out of your line head for it,its almost a given you will dig before or just after you pick it up. I personally would rather hear a lot of trash around so I know there was activity there and a better chance for something to bet lost. Im not very good at working the real quiet places where you hear nothing for long streaks,HH...Shoot

The Chinese Cash Coin is a coin "replica" and not an "actual" coin or token.

But either way it's cool.

Nice Merc! I pick up the trash so I don't have to find it again when I come back at a later date. I hate pencil tops, they trick me every time. WAY TO GO!
