I was blazing along at a phenomenal rate of one coin per minute. Managed 30 coins (2 wheats) in first 30 minutes of my hunt then a big WHAMMY struck my 6" White's Blue Max coil (pics included). Some of you will note that this is the second occurrence this year.

The big whammy came in the form of a protruding root out of the ground at the base of a large tree which unexplicably moved itself into the path of my coil swing!

Go figure! ???

I bet no one has found a carousel token like the one picture displays!

Appears that I will use my stock coil for awhile.... :(

Considering the combination of the cost in airfare from CA - NJ is $434.00 (I know cause I'll be there in two weeks) and the inaccuracy of my "backhand" I strongly doubt that I'd be a good candidate for your doubles-partner. Thanks for asking though! Heheheh!

For you, it wouldn't cost you a thing. I know buying a new machine is pricey, so maybe a nice cold drink would suffice. Heck, you've been doing me favors by clearing the clad and trash from my hunting areas; I appreciate that. It's the least I can do for you if you decide to get a ML.

My buddy just bought a used minelab (the XS) on Ebay for $700, and that included the much needed "X1 target probe" and a smaller 8" coil (Sunray X8, which is awesome). He can now find every deepie I'm finding.

Hey Mike,

I think someone is telling you that it's time for a new detector.....a minelab maybe??? ;D ;D
I'm sure you've paid for that machine many times over by now....time to join the "darkside", and start taking some of those old coins away from me here in LB. :D

Hmmmm...

Your hypothesis is correct.

I've been in need of a suitable replacement for my White's ever since the individual components began failing. First it was was the rechargeable battery pack, next it was a screw here and there, then the lightbulb in the backlight, next the internal speakers and lastly the coil (again). It has served it purpose over and over but I will have to consider my next purchase in the near future.

Any forumites willing to contribute to the M-Squared's "Retire my Detector" fund? I'd have to raise over $1,300 for a new Minelab Explorer.
My finds aren't cutting it. Total 2007 finds might amount to $150-$200 towards the purchase. (Hehehe!)

Cap'n .. How much do you charge for a Hands-On tutorial and demo of the Minelab Explorer?

To bad about the exploding coil but nice finds...

Keep safe and wear safety glasses...

What if you glued a coil cover on the broken coil? That might fix it!

Might get another couple of years out of it....And then some bicycle inner tube aired up and glued to the sides to make it like a bumper car.
;D

A neat token M---Hope you can fix that coil--Maybe some epoxy.

Wow, that sucks about your coil. I've hit mine a few times and each time I've worried that it would somehow stop working! If your's still works after being smashed to bits I guess I shouldn't worry too much. HeHe.

I agree with the mix up of your golf swing!! But you dont have to take a bad round of golf out on your detector!! ;D Ashame though you were on a killer coin pace.

Wow...how hard you swinging that thing?

Sorry about your coil next time more luck.

I guess hard enough to hit a baseball 430ft out of dead center Yankee stadium or 440 yds down some fairway.

Yep!

Gone through two tubes of SuperGlue. Should hold for another three months... We'll see.
