3I/ATLAS may be nuclear-powered says scientist studying interstellar object

Avi Loeb, the Harvard theoretical physicist who has drawn attention for suggesting comet 3I/ATLAS may be alien-made, is sharing a new thought: The interstellar object could be nuclear-powered, based on new imagery. “You never know what type of intent it has,” says Loeb, who advocates sending the Juno probe to check things out.

Thanks for posting Jeff... I was unaware of this till today.
I guess this has avoided mainstream news to some degree for this is the first time i have heard of it.
Not only is this very interesting... this is peaking my interest.
I think this is something to take notice.

The light source is still under debate. Some say it’s emitting light, some say it’s reflecting it. That scientist has made a lot of claims about alien tech before. I don’t recall seeing any of them validated yet.

The thing that always bugged me about the whole alien conspiracy thing is — why? If you’re a society so advanced that you can visit other planets or other dimensions and investigate the life there, why bother with the theatrics? Do we make sure that we are invisible and not memorable if we go to the zoo, or go fishing, or whatever? Seems like advanced alien societies would see us in much the same light.

Humanity has been hunting for habitable planets for just a couple dozen years
now, and we've yet to find one that would support human life. The exo-planets
found so far are only about .0000000001% of what is out there. Could be they
(the aliens) are somewhat like us, biologically, and may believe they've found a
planet that is habitable for them. All anyone can do is speculate.

That is, if it's a ship and not just a comet.

Couldn't have timed this any better. I'm watching an "Aliens try to take over the Earth"

Avi Loeb is regarded by rational scientists as a fraud and a charlatan, who makes unfounded claims for self-promotion and to publicise his books.

Loeb likes to stir the pot, and revels in the controversy it creates, especially since the media only pick up on the sensational parts of what he says.

As Loeb said on his own blog: “the most likely outcome will be that 3I/ATLAS is a completely natural interstellar object, probably a comet," but defended his alien spacecraft hypothesis as an "interesting exercise in its own right, and is fun to explore, irrespective of its likely validity." That about sums it up.

Astronomer Samantha Lawler, with expertise in dynamic modelling further summed it up with "while it is important to remain open-minded about any 'testable prediction', the new paper [by Loeb et al.] pushes this sentiment to the limit”, adding that extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, while "the evidence presented [by Loeb et al.] is absolutely not extraordinary."

There is zero evidence for 3I/ATLAS being anything other than a non-periodic comet and, although it appears to exhibit some characteristics that are yet to be fully explained, the only ‘alien’ thing about it is that it originated in a star system outside our solar system.

the Earth has most likely got weapons they can shoot at us...from space. They'll just
sit out there in orbit and blast us into extinction, and then maybe put troops on the

If I was a highly intelligent species (which I am not), I’d take that into consideration, especially if you figure how bad things would have to be in their solar system/dimension to be incentivized to travel this far. We might still be the garden of Eden of all existence? I’d like to think that is the case. What if cells or atoms are equally satisfied living their life or purpose? Are we micro atoms in a larger being?
