5 Silvers in one weekend, Fairgrounds, Old School & Farmer's Union!!
What a great weekend!
Made a trip on Saturday Morning to the site of the Old Farmer's Union I have been hunting.
Found 4 wheaties and my second War Nickel, a '43 this time!
On the way home I stopped at an old one room school and picked up a '53 Washington Quarter!
On Sunday I was trying to get permission to hunt an old Grove that I'm sure hasn't ever been hunted. Site of revival meetings and church picnics in the early part of the 1900's. Landowner wasn't home, so I decided that since the ferns and weeds are dying off I would try the trusty community park. Site of the Fairgrounds from late 1800's to the '50s.
This was the first time I have had a chance to get into the brush back there with the 5" coil on the Quattro.
Early in the spring I found a coin spill, where I picked up a 1918 walking liberty half. That seemed like a great place to start.
Less than ten minutes into the hunt I found another coin spill! 50 feet from the other one! Up comes a '34 Washington, (not a double die - no matter how hard I shook it) then a '48 Roosie. The hole was still live, and loud! Up came another Walking Liberty Half, '45! Luckily nobody was close enough to see me doing the happy dance.
Next I found an old dumpsite! In the site was an old blue enamel coffee pot, stuffed with small bottles. I marked the dumpsite on my GPS, and kept moving. I had kind of a silver rush going, and bottles while cool, just were not silver.
Found a '41 wheatie next. Cool, but not silver.
About 10 minutes later I hit another silver signal! This time a '37 Merc!
Four silver in an hour and a half hunt! I started looking for just where the lightning would come from!
Cannot wait for more of the weeds to die off! Think I may just find some time to go back in there again sometime.
I hope many of you had as great a couple hunts as I did!
