Excited to be heading literally a mile up the road to a 50 year old golf course that had closed down a few years ago, and now reopened as a general use park. No regulations against metal detecting! Research reveals a farm on this property dating back to at least the mid 40's, and I've also pinpointed where the residence was on the property. I guess I'll find out if they moved much land around the house, but I don't think they did as it was relatively close to the entrance and according to old satellite images, that area hasn't changed much except the demolition of the house and barns.
Wish me luck! Hopefully you'll see me posting in Today's Finds the next few weeks / months!

They recently did this with a golf course near my home. A group of hunters were on it before I was. Hundreds of silver coins. Me and a group went out and five or six silver coins were found. I found a walking liberty half

All these responses have me fired up! I don't think there will be 'much' silver there... the course didn't open until around 1970... but there is certainly potential for a lot of coins, as well as some lost jewelry. To my knowledge, it's not been detected. I guess I'll find out tonight! I'll be swinging the Simplex+ with the SP24 coil to start with.
