Would everyone agree with the following statement;

The 6" coil goes deeper and discriminates trash better.

I'm a complete neophyte, having been in possession of my 600 for a couple of weeks with just one outing under my belt. But, me thinks that the depth advantage is diminished by the amount of ground covered by the size of the coil in a swing and there's no real benefit when it comes to discriminating trashy targets?

The 6" coil goes deeper - No.

discriminates trash better - Yes.

:headbang:

Smaller coils will give you better target separation, but less total depth.

To be more clear; In trashy areas and nail beds you'll have a better shot at hearing and finding the goodies in between the trash and/or nails.
In an area that's cleaner like a farm field you'll be less likely to hear small deep targets like buttons and bullets.

There's a bit more to it than that, but that's the short and sweet version.

The Equinox 6" coil goes deeper that any other manufacturer's 6" coil does, IMHSO. It won't go deeper than the factory 11" coil. The Equinox 6" coil will find 9" coins in tough soil. I never had anybody else's 6" coil do that.
