Eighty percent of doctors retiring is an absurd figure. There will be some who retire but Obamacare is not the only reason. There is an electronic health record initiative that many older doctors do not want to learn. There is a multi-year plan in place to force physicians to do it. That has a lot to do with it as well. Some doctors will go but they probably had one foot out the door and into retirement anyway.
What would I do if I left medicine? I'm not qualified to do too much else. The vast majority of doctors have spouses and children they need to support.

Crispin, numbers in articles says 6 out of 10, I have seen over 9 doctors either for me or my wife since I go to every one of her appointments in the last year under last years deductible and this years.... Not a single one had a single good thing to say about obamacare, not even one..... Every one of them said they are making plans to leave the profession or thinking serious about it when I asked, all due to obamacare.
Most of my doctors are middle age or older, I try real hard to not go to any young doctors.. I prefer a doctor with experience over an inexperienced doctor, and yes I know, 4 years college, 4 years medical school, residency, then practice. Well that don't mean squat to me, it is like an airline pilot, I would much rather be in a plane with a pilot 65 years old at the controls than one 25.........
Now also notice the red highlighted word in your quote..... Why in the heck is the government forcing doctors to do anything... The government does not belong in the health care business...... Why did my company health insurance go up $200 a month this year, because of obamacare....... Once again it is the take from some give to others, what was that called again. oh yeah, socialism.....
We will have "death panels", bean counters making medical decisions instead of doctors, you honestly think that is good? I know your field and I respect you and your profession, but that is not the field my concern lines in.
I am so fed up with the entire BS coming out of this administration now.....this country is on a dark road, there is a light coming straight at us and it isn't the light of enlightenment, is a train headed right at us and we headed for the biggest train wreak this country has ever seen..... Your kids and grand kids are going to pay the price for the catastrophic mistakes being made right now......
