$673.00 Parking lot find and first find

So I'm walking on my normal exercise route here on a1a near the beach and normally I'm
looking at the sky or the people. But since I found this site about a month ago and spending about 3 hours a day looking at posts on here new and old I have started looking down and thats what I was doing today and I spot what looks like money about 20 feet away. So I'm thinking maybe some if those bills like the churches give away so I pick it up it had a rubber band around it and I realize that its real money. So I counted it and it ends up being 673$. BOY WAS I EXCITED. I must have jumped 3 feet in the air lol. So after the excitement wore off I start thinking about this site again and I figure maybe I can find the owner. But here are my problems
1 the parking lot I was walking threw was a closed buisness

2 how do I identfy the owner of money... lol
Now the one thing I do remeber about this parking lot is that there was a lot of cop cars there a few nights ago and they were arresting a few unsavory looking caracters so maybe one of the threw it down or something.

So I would be open to any suggestions

But I figure worse comes to worse I may finally have enuff money to buy a metal detector and to make my wife stop thinking I am crazy for spending so much time on the site

No need to delete anything.....Going to be real hard for someone to describe it, unless they can tell you what bills there were to total up to full amount and even then that doesn't prove much....

That is enough to get you a nice detector... :icon_thumright:

First off from you story there is no way you could return that money. Plus the fact it is most likely to be dumped drug money that a perp did not want police to find. Consider this your own war on drugs and enjoy this hobby . Buy a nice detector and never return to that lot again. JMHO Rob

SUPER EASY HERE.... sit on it for a couple weeks and if you hear a story of lost money you can be the hero. If not do what you would do with an extra 600 bucks.

HA and I thought I did good finding three bucks in the Walgreens parking lot the other day. Found money is found money, if there's no id with it, it's yours. I agree with the idea that it's probable a dealers bankroll that got tossed when the law came calling. It would be irresponsible to give it back.

same here to it is your war on drugs dont worry it yours go buy a metal detector a ace 350 or a new whites coin master and a xtra coil for which ever you buy have fun and go make some hh memorys and maybe find wife a gold and diamond ring on the beach

If you feel Guilty, Buy a good Detector and Sniper Coil and Offer your service to the Police to help find anything "Lost"

In Oregon, you are legally required to turn the money in to the police by law. But that doesn't mean you have to be stupid about it. You are also required to post in a local newspaper a notice of "lost money" found. If you don't trust the police, you are allowed to keep possession of the money I believe. Or leave it in care of a judge or disinterested 3rd party.

Having working in the newspaper business for awhile, here's how you should word your ad: "Found Lost Money. Identify amount and location. (give phone # or dummy email address for contact)" Your ad should generate a number of crank calls, similar to this thread. Someone who has actually had that exact sum will remember the amount. Unless the caller can identify the sum and location correctly, you are not legally obliged to return it. Don't give out any of your personal information!

yep "wash it" via the casino slots (use 500 or less each time to avoid the $600 buck irs reporting rule amount ) -- put in $500 bucks play $1 then hit the cash out button -- poof --- you get a reciept for 499 dollars of "clean money " to cash out ---note ** be sure to go to a differant "cash cage" so you do not get your own "dirty" bills back --serial numbers what serial numbers --lol

I'd sit on it too, watching the newspapers from the week prior, which you can find at the library. I watch CL too.

It wouldn't hurt to drop just 10% of that into the collection plate at church, once you decide it is yours to keep.
