Did my homework the last few weeks and found another home site on an 1849 map. Took me a while to locate it then found the iron. I pulled 3 buttons and 8 coppers. The coins are toasty as the soil conditions are poor, but after cleaning could id most. There is one NJ copper, five KG's one large cent and a half cent. Also a few buckels

Looks like that may be it as fields are being planted.

That is a lot of old coppers for one dig.....well done.

Your research paid off !

Awesome detective skills on your part! Awesome finds! I have 1 copper and it's toast!

Congrats on doing your research and on your finds! :occasion14:
Your persistence definitely paid off big!
I'd hit the fields again this fall.

Dave

Nice job on those coppers. 8 in one day is amazing. .

Eight copper days don't happen too often. You will have to go back after the harvest and get the silver! There gotta be at least one there!

Its not often you can dig more coins than buttons, but you certainly did on that outstanding hunt.

Steve, I was thinking the same thing but, it was one after another green disc in the hole. I only found three buttons? Did people care more about there buttons then there money lol...

Bill, thank you. These last few hunts have been very productive and my coin to button has been killer, only the coppers are mostly toast.

Oh my friend! It doesn't matter if they are toast! They are yours, and you found them. It is likely you will keep them forever and always remember digging them!

A great hunt in anyone's book :icon_salut:

Great job! Was hoping for some results in fields by me, but not to be. Yep, been seeing the tractors out so probably not
gonna happen this year, will try again in fall. Results like yours keep me tryingtho

Relicmeister, thanks! This is the time of year I dread, I do have a few spots that can be hunted almost year round but they have been hit hard:BangHead:.

Congrats on the awesome coppers!

Wow that is one amazing day must have been a lot of holes in his pockets

Don, nice hunt, dang those toasted coppers from the fields! Anyway, congrats on getting way more than most ever get on a hunt. The NJ is a 1787, not certain yet of variety, but lean towards Maris 46-e, common, or Maris 43-d, very common like one of the others you found. If you get a chance try and email me better photos if possible for perhaps a solid ID. Assuming the same county found in as your other two.

Hi Don, I was digging one after another it was great! What I don't know is what was going on in this particular area to have dropped so many coins, and only three buttons? I may have one more chance there this spring for a silver. Anyway, Yes it was found in the same county. I just purchased a digital microscope(Aven zipScope) to help ID some finds if it helps I will send better photos.

Don

Well I guess I know where you'll be this fall! An amazing amount of coppers:coffee2:
