8 inch gravity sluicing

Hi,everybody ,in my earlyer beginner times(i,m still one) i gathered some infos from this forum,maybe i can inspire others too.

cutted a vid together from the last trips footage.The raw material was already crappy old cellphone vid quality and it got worse after i copied/cutted it several times with movie maker.As addition the sound got terrible too and now it seems to be a 70ties dredge porn but one can see whats going on and i hope its interesting too.Tried to cut out some bad italian swearing from mi minerbuddy ,just left some as spice to the soup.(you have to excuse but around here bigger gold than average eight of an inch flake is rare and he got exited) You can see the flake from the pic in the post above. For the sake of appeal i used the better dredge days results and the gold at the end is not a days result but my share of the whole amount we dredged behind that boulder minus a few grams from elsewhere in the same river.

what is your length of pipe and total drop. i'm really thinking about doing some gravity dredging on the claim and I have been curious about your situation but, too lazy to go back through the thread.

Hey goldwasher ,lazy sack ,there i was working with 26 feet of hose .The drop maybe 2 and a half feet as you can see,i was working on the limit.Suction was a little weaker then the one shown in the vid,cause the film is cutted together from different spots.However it still worked but not optimum.Placed the sluice as low as possible,used also the streamforce to clear rocks.Also those are little rapids with only 8 to 10 inches of material over the claylayer,so i didnt had to go deep which is an advantage because the material did not have to climb upwards on the way to the sluice.
If you build a dam to increase power and simplify priming,place the hose low as possible,then build a dam on top.Also how big of a portion of the hose is exposed to drop influences performance,
Say 20 feet of the hose was laying horizontal and only the last 6 feet of hose had drop would also weaken perf....AAArgh ,you make me work..

found also a nice quartzvein in a rock ,crushed it but had no visible gold

I recently set up a 6" gravity dredge, used 140' 6" PVC sch 40. Had 6' or so of drop and had really good suction and could draw a vortex down 3-4' from the surface.

Good to see people back in the water.
Like to see others set -and clean-ups,problems or successes.

Sad to say my friend and mining partner Carlo was found dead by his sister yesterday morning. Heart attack.
He was 45 years old.

Damm... I'm sorry for your loss, losing a friend is tough, then finding a new honest partner worth his weight takes years...

Integrity,generosity,hard working, modest and a friend.Don't know if replaceable.
Me and my girl just lost our favorite human beeing in november,after a few months of illness,thats why i didn,t feel like posting much enymore.Now him.
You are a tad older then me,i guess you've seen your own share of loved ones go.
What can we do,-nothing .Go on till it's our turn.
For shure the 8 inch is a bit too big to handle for me alone and the biggest part of the gear was stored at his home in italy.
Maybe the end or not,we'll see.

so easter i visited the parents of carlo and recuperated big part of my gear. Futile to say they where devastated.
I will try to go on alone this summer but have no idea yet if i take the little 4 inch or the 8 inch.
Part of the problem is the the camp site and gear that carlo was in charge of,and the very time consuming dam builts.

Now for the dam built i found a solution online.

When i first saw it i jumped for joy ..then i saw the price. For 40 feet long and c.a. 5 feet high its around 12 000 dollar if i recall correctly.
Will try to do one by myself but time and money isnt there to get it done for this year.
However a very innovative invention .This could allow you to work also in flat parts of rivers.

Hi all.
Even though this is my 8 inch thread,i'll continue posting vids here using other Recovery methods.
Some footage from last year.Crevicing and gravity sniping.
Gravity vid still to do.
Vid is cut rudimentarily.My go pro has sound issues,gold is not displayed well.
I was more concerned with finding the shiney then filming.But i ain't in commercial youtubing enyway.
