Hey guys,
Needless to say 2018 is shaping up to be another killer year. Took me 360 days last year to find my only rev war button (USA continental) in 2017, but I guess lightning can strike twice in a month. This week was certainly the most challenging conditions I've ever hunted in. I started the week on the coast with Stef45 hunting post-blizzard in 20 degree weather with 20 kt winds...it sucked. That being said, a combination of digging on the coast and in the snow produced a nice pile of relics to start the year.
The best of the bunch is this partial British, 82nd regiment of foot. Two companies were sent to the Carolinas in 1780, again in early 1781 they traveled to New York and eventually to Charleston where this one was lost. Starting shaking when this little beauty popped out of the snow.
Here's a look after cleaning and sealing with renaissance wax
On the same section of coastline that produced the USA, also dug another interesting pewter cuff. Unfortunately surface bubbling will make a positive ID difficult although it does appear to be marked.
Also recovered another with a partial backmark
A bit farther in lead I dug a nice assortment of buttons. The nicest were a large dandy with gilt center as well as a smaller silver flat button with BB hallmark.
If anyone recognizes the hallmark please let me know.

The earliest relic I recovered is certainly one of my favorite buckles. I knew it was early out the dirt, but thanks to Bill I was able to narrow it down.
This one matches #619 and dates from 1660-1720!
Also dug another buckle frame
That about wraps it up- one solid way to bring in 2018. Hopefully a sign of better digs to come, as always thanks for looking.
