9 silver day

hi all,

i just spent 30 minutes writing a detailed post and lost it! so, i'll make this quick and easy.

caught up with dan(captn se) and Mike(ratman) at an LA park and had a great day. first target was a wheat at 11 inches! a '39. ended up with eight silver dimes, 17 wheats and the beauty that you'll see below.

hunted for 9 hours.

Course you are feelin fine my man, you just scored a bunch o silver! You guys rock. Whats the deal there in cali? The bangers keep serious MDers away from the parks? You guys rambo up and hit parks that have never seen a coil before? 8) I wouldnt think there would be a pulltab left in California with all the people you got there. You all have to be some skilled hunters. Great finds!

this particular park is pretty safe, and is HUGE. this was only my 2nd trip to this park ever. we worked only two general areas. it beats me why there's still so much silver in certain areas of these parks. i think these parks saw heavy hunting back in the 80s but there are still signals if you go slow and tune in. some areas are pretty thin, but once in a while you'll hit a hot spot. i definitely got lucky today!

It also amazes me that you guys can still find coins under 8 inches. Most of the silver I find in the parks is, at a minimum, 7 inches deep. I think that most of the silver got harversted in the early 80's down to about 5 inches. Since then the coins have sunk a couple of inches and a few inches of organic material have been added. I gotta go slow here and dig the bounce signals that sometimes only hit from one direction. Though I gotta admitt, the EX II has been good to me, since I figure out how to use the darned thing.

i definitely got lucky today!

Lucky to find that SLQ, but not lucky to dig 26 oldies from a previously hard hit area. Don't let Mike fool you everyone. This guy has got "The Skills".

I knew when you texted me early this morning stating that you couldn't sleep last night, that you were really excited to get out there and make some good finds. Well, if you had dreamt last night, you probably would have dreamt the day you actually had. It was a great one!!!

I knew that SLQ was a silver before you dug it. After I heard that signal, I just turned off my detector and watched you dig that baby out of the ground. That was awesome.

Congrats on your best silver day in the turf. Now you can go to sleep and dream about this spectacular day you had.
