At the last stop on my route today I came across this statue of dancers. They stand 19" tall and about 14" across. Marking on back says sterling-925 and made in Italy. No mfg. name. As a big fan of dancing with the stars, I had to give it a shot. $45.00. As with all deals that seem to good to be true, I'm wondering if I found a treasure or got took. Any coments. P

OK i guess i have to ask, what is the size and weight of that great looking statue!!!!

Size is listed above also about 6" deep. Don't know weight maybe 10# with base, but thats just a guess.

Silver is currently selling for $17.41 per oz. That is $278.56 per pound. If statue weighs 10# you have $ 2785.60 worth of silver.

Sounds like a good deal to me. :hello2: :laughing7: :hello2:

Very nice. That is definitely something worth getting appraised.

Here's the latest on the sculpture. Thin layer of silver over wax. probably no more than 4 or 5 oz. So I took it to the swap meet yesterday and sold it for $250. Not the Treasure I hoped for but a tidy profit anyway.

Yeah, :o

I'd say that statue is in the several $1000 dollar range. :icon_thumleft:

Awesome find !! :headbang:

Keep @ it and HH !! ;D :D

Just doing a bit of tidying up on some older threads, mainly for the benefit of anyone searching the site for information.

Nice. It’s copied from a sculpture by Amilcare Santini (1910-1975). This one, titled ‘Dancers’, has an acknowledgement for ‘A. Santini’ on the base plinth:

That one is silver laminate and sold for 10 euros ($11). It’s possible yours is also silver laminated onto something else and the ‘sterling’ mark only relates to the coating. There are numerous copies of this work in a variety of materials with a wide array of prices depending on the quality.
