!940 New Zealand Penny, & a few other trinkets...

Hello all,,,
I went back to, you know where, the cache site over the week end. Thought I found my first U.S. large cent, but it turned out to be a 1940 penny from New Zealand. ( King George VI )... It's about the same size as a half dollar...

A few other objects of interest is this small pendant?, with what looks like blue glass for the stone. Not sure if it's a pendant, or possibly just a pull thingy for a fancy lamp?

Also found another old brass door knob. I'm hoping to find a nice solid one to use for the top of my flag pole.

A Kiwi penny - not something you'd find that often in the US. Having said that I found a US Cent in my Aussie park today.

Real nice finds, I particularly like the blue stone pendant.

Looking at the pendant - it looks more like a seal fob for stamping letters. Does it have a reverse design incised into the stone?

Nice finds Leon! Crusader has a good point and the glass does look like it might contain some kind of an image, possible seal matrix! Is it cracked, broken or chipped? Have another look at it, would be a very rare find for the States side however, possible! HH, Mike

Thanks for the info, but I was wondering why your calling it a Kiwi penny? I'm confused. now :P The site below states that the bird is a "Tui" bird? How ever you pronounce that one, " Tui ". Is it the same creature

When I did a google on "Kiwi penny"all I came up with were Canadian coins?

About the " Pendant/Seal Fob/ Pull Thingy" thing, I enlarged the image a bit to give you a little better look. I believe the stone is simply chipped. Probably due to the fact that the site has been bulldozed in several areas... There is also a bit of white paint alone the right hand side. The piece seems to be light enough to be use as a pendant. It just reminds me of the end piece of a pull chain used on a light switch?

Reddie,,, I would love to see a pic of the one you found, if possible?
