Just got in after another morning hunt at a local lake erie beach. I put my Equinox away for a few days and took out my trusty Gold bug pro. First hit was a rather large lure for around here. 5 1/2" long with the name Viper on it. View attachment 1626258 along with a birds beak View attachment 1626259 in the same scoop. I found 2 belly button hanging rings. (non precious metal) View attachment 1626260View attachment 1626261and a lever thingy with a hole in it. I still don't know what its for and any help would be appreciated with thanks. View attachment 1626262View attachment 1626263View attachment 1626264 also 2-2$ coins, 1-1$ coin, 9 quarters, 2 dimes, 3 nickels and 3 pennies. thanks for looking and happy hunting.

Well I took the birds beak to the museum in Niagara on the lake. I will let everyone that’s interested know if it is a native sewing needle artifact. Should know in a weeks time. Thanks for everyone’s interest.

Looking forward to hearing what it turns out to be.. Either way, Cool find...

they will be meeting on the 24th. I will know on the 25 th. And post the verdict. Thanks.

As I promised. The verdict is in. It’s NOT a birds beak. Its a CLAW. Was strung together with many other claws to make a decorative necklace. I was told the one end is a knuckle and is to big to be used as a sewing needle. Thanks for all the interest.

Well Ice Scratcher I think you nailed it. Thanks for the link.

Your welcome, keep an eye out in your scoop though, real artifacts are in the lake..

I've eyeballed a couple cool arrowheads in my scoop already.. And a couple pieces of trade silver too..

Nice finds Hawks.
My wife's grandparents used to live in Port Maitland on Lake Erie (just outside of Dunnville), lots of history in that area.
Sure wish I was into detecting back then. :laughing7:

Congrats, Nice work! Does anyone know what the hook is? I've seen them on here before. It looks like silver.

Thanks Dave I’ve been to Pt. Maintland many times and I still go there. I’m a bird photographer and I go there to take pictures of the Hawks and Bald Eagles. I’ve never tried detecting that area though.

Thanks Reanm8er. It’s a book mark.
