I hadn't really paid this rock much attention other than to notice it had a bit of a unique blue/grey colour and was a nice slice of stone. I had wondered if it was soapstone or something like that. The other day I happened to look at it, and noticed it had a cool shimery effect when the light hits just right... Reminds me a little of labradorite, but I've never seen rough. Any guesses to what it could be, or ideas for what I could do with it? Thanks!

What pretty schist of color! (Is that the right word, schist?, lol.) Almost looks like opal, too.
Would be cool if you have a way to bring more of it out. Thanks for sharing that. purty.....

A few folks have suggested it's Labradorite (a type of feldspar), which was my first hunch as well.

I would say that you found yourself a very beautiful specimen of ''Opalized'' Petrified wood, and a nice one at that.
