So I dug this out of our soybean field today. I think it may be a button?? It seems to have had some fancy on the front of it at one time. It has two round pieces that feel like rubber almost, in between the front and the back. I included pics of the front, back and side of it. Is it a button? What type of clothing is it from? How old is it?

I find them just like that in civil war camps , but rivets were used before that and are still used today. I'd throw out a guess of mid 1800s .
