"A CLAD KINDA DAY"

Saturday started early with the temps already in the 80's and a plan to visit a couple of schools from my past, 1st grade on. Yea they are kinda old now. The neighborhood looked pretty much the same except for the addition of burglar bars on the houses and eight foot chain link fencing with barb wire and chain locks at all of the schools, no access. Bummer. I did find one meager playground outside of the "Containment Area" where I searched for about a half an hour with a couple of dimes and a few Lincolns for my trouble. Bummer again.
I left this part of town where I spent my childhood 45 or so years ago realizing things change and mostly for the worst. Just disappointed with society in general...
Back to my local area, I decided to hit the city parks since it was still kinda early and hot, so maybe my huntin spots won't be crowded yet. They were deserted, Yea for me.
Two hours later I had pretty much had it with the heat and the sweat running constantly off the end of my nose. I did have a pretty good day with the clad and my first Sac dollar.
Total was 75 coins, one Chuck E Cheese token (1999) a few bracelet charms, a house key and plenty of trash, cans and pull tabs.

Thanks for lookin'...

Nice finds and cool SAC. Yes times do change and sometimes for the worse. It would have been cool to search your old school areas. I would also like to search the area where I grew up but I would be taking my life into my own hands if I did, just not worth it. Well here is to more productive search areas.

Re: "A CLAD KINDA DAY"

Good clad count Rudy........I've yet to find a Chuck E Cheese token.......but I've got about 6 of them in my pocket when I grabbed change from my other pants :) (Took my daughter over the weekend). Congtrats on the clad haul. Fall is just around the corner for better weather :)

Re: "A CLAD KINDA DAY"

Rudy great day and look ...closer and closer to 100! :) Now get a cooler day...maybe just after some rain and nice soft ground a good hunting place and 100 is yours buddie! ;)

Re: "A CLAD KINDA DAY"

Thanks guys, I'm tryin' to get to 100 a day like my mentor Gregg....

Keep diggin'...

Re: "A CLAD KINDA DAY"

I know what you mean about the containment areas, I've been to similiar ones. The ones that aren't fenced are full of junk and you need to bring a large garbage bag with you to pick up after them...all the time you are watching your back. Still got a nice wad of coins there despite being shut out of those other places.

Re: "A CLAD KINDA DAY"

Glad you got out, congrats on the finds you did get, including the sweet Sac!

Smiles!

Re: "A CLAD KINDA DAY"

At least you got to go out. We haven't had rain in a couple weeks so the ground here is hard. The tot lots I hit with little success. And lets not even mention hot. 99 today and over a hundred tomorrow. Add the humidity and they say it has the heat index at 108. A heat advisory until Friday night. But that's summer in Missouri...HH

Gregg's advice is second to none........helped me develop a strategy for my clad days. If you can dig 75 coins, I know you can get 100.......find the right area after a good night's rest and a good breakfast and it will happen man!

Re: "A CLAD KINDA DAY"

Things have changed, that's for sure. I can't look around where I went to school either. Looks like you still had a pretty good day. Keep em coming!

Re: "A CLAD KINDA DAY"

Looks like a great day overall Rudy, WTG!!!

Good luck, & Happy hunting~

Re: "A CLAD KINDA DAY"

Hello rudy
I know what you are saying about the schools. Here in west central Florida all the schools are fenced in and not only that but I found out from a local policeman that I was trespassing on private property!? I was detecting on the edge of the non-fenced school front. I contacted the head of security for all the school in Hillsborough Co, and was told that the county had passed an ordinance that allowed the schools to have the same rights as private property even though they are a public inst. ??? :P :-\
I was concerned that the schools had legally claimed the property as there own and was wanting me as a tax payer to pay for it's expenses. I was told that was not the case. Really confusing to say the least. It is sad that it has come to this, as when I was a kid the schools were wide open. I would like to thank all the moral midgets in our society for losing the use of the schools here.
