A classic nickel signal gives me Gold today...

Funny thing about it my buddy Ed(upstate) and I were just talking about with all the nickels we find why aren't we finding more gold no more then three minutes later the first plug I dig BAM a gold ring sitting at the bottom of the plug it was a classic nickel signal I called Ed over and showed him what I found we just busted out laughing it looks to be a signet ring 10K with a small stone also three wheats....

Nice find. I am also thinking its 1940's, because the inside is kind of hollowed out. Seems that was a popular method of construction back then.

Nickel signals always get me excited...most times its a nickel but as you know, sometimes its that beautiful yellow metal...congrats on the gold.

Rarely do I get a Pure Nickel Signal on the XLT = 19-22 "Constant"
So most Signals 40 & below are usually Some type of pulltab.
Then again Gold comes in all sizes ,Carats so to be sure one must dig them all. "Mostly"

That's why I did nickels! Dug 14 of them yesterday including 4 war nickels and an 1883 V nickel. Also dug a bunch last weekend and came up with a 14k baby's ring. If you really want to find gold, you have to dig those nickel signals. Yes, you will come up with pop tops and pieces of them, but in my opinion it's worth it to get the gold. Nice find and way to go!

I have 3 days to quench my gold drought, thought I did today but no, not there yet!

That is awesome. Super nice gold find my friend! The only signal I pass on are "zincoln" 76-78 on the AT Pro....All others I dig.
