I have not been posting much due to job stress, our contract is changing and I’m not sure where or who I will be working for or, if I will even accept a position with whoever, LOL! I have been lurking the forums and still doing a lot of detecting, just not finding much for the time I put in but, it is a great way to do a mind dump at the end of the day and I really enjoy it. Here is what I have been doing and finding over the past few weeks, most are from Bavaria and a few are from the Rhineland Pfalz. A lead horse, a very old spindle whorl and a trinket from where I presently work.
Five unexpected musket balls from the Grafenwoehr training area. I was doing a clad hunt on a obstacle course and was not finding much so I was detecting the edges hoping to find a few coins and the musket balls popped up, they probably date to the original German training area starting in 1910 and founded in 1907. A lead candle snuffer looking thing flattened, a pretty purple marble and a harness type button that probably had some kind of glass or enamel in it.
More finds.
A few buttons and not sure what this is but it has a lion’s head on it.
Finds found between a Celtic fortress from around 400BC and a castle from 1551AD. Iron spike, two buttons, worn copper coin, square nail and some kind of a triangular buckle.
I found this plow piece for a farmer back in April. I did not accept a reward but, he brought me a nice 2 pound piece of smoked pork loin last weekend, very tasty!
Found this 14K/585 wedding ring for an old work colleague last Saturday, he lost it in his yard last week, they were married 6 June 07 and he left for Kuwait Sunday. My best recent find and it has nothing to do with the gold!!!
A nice and very heavy silver .800 ring found way out on a farm field with the initials “HB” and a cracked thimble. Also found around $20.00 in clad. HH, Mike
