I found these today during my first lawn mowing of the year. Pretty nice to discover.😋
What sort of terrain are they found in? I have never found them before. Can't wait to see if I get some.
I normally find them in wooded area’s near dead wood. After a good rain in the spring they pop out. Don’t seem to grow much around oaks. What sort of terrain are they found in? I have never found them before.

Here (SE Iowa) They are in areas of vegetation that get morning light, especially east-facing hillsides. What sort of terrain are they found in? I have never found them before.
I cut them in halves end-to-end and soak in weak salt water to clean. Drain well and dip in beaten egg, coat with fine cracker crumbs and saute in a skillet with melted butter.I'm getting hungry now ! What's your favorite recipe for cooking these lovely beauties !
