A "Gold Day"............

As I left to hunt, I told the wife, "This is the day for gold." I got to the park, donned my knee pad and tools, tuned my F75 and began my hunt. In an effort to increase my chances of locating my first piece of gold, I have been digging just about everything from VDI 20+. About 20 feet from my car, I hit my first target of the day, a solid 24 VDI that remained steady regardless of swing direction. It was a great signal and the machine showed a depth of 5", hmmmmm........it has been here for a while! I took out my wonderful Hori Hori knife and carefully cut a plug around the target pinpoint. I removed the plug and, at the bottom of the hole, I spotted what was obviously the lower portion of a gold ring....just imagine my excitement!....I almost had an organism!!.....ALRIGHT!! :hello2: With great care, I picked the precious gold ring from the dirt to see it was a solitaire with a missing stone.......I put my glasses on for a better look............

P*$$ me off!! Merely a dime store ring.......not even gold plated. :'(

But, you know what? This just makes me want to hunt even harder and as much as I possibly can.......I LOVE this hobby!! Oh yeah, I went on to find $2.29 in clad and a crap load of pull tabs and foil. ;D

Keep digging, Roland. You will hit pay dirt one of these days. I love the hobby, too. My dad used to detect years ago. I have the bug, now all I need is a good detector! :)

Re: A "Gold Day"............

Yeah keep at it. When you find the real gold ring your organism will mean so much more! :laughing9:

Re: A "Gold Day"............

Your Getting close Keep it up!!! Its there just waiting to be found!!!!! Chug

Just remember slow and easy and Grid the area, I usually scan each area in three directions. That's why I think i have done so well in my gold Park!!! My last ring was in an area that I went over twice in 2 different directions then I decided to grid it in 1 more direction to see if the coil missed any thing It did 10K gold band!!!

Re: A "Gold Day"............

Re: A "Gold Day"............

I know a big Gold Ring is in your future. Myself, I love diggin all rings, junk or not. Guess that's why they call me Ringfinder, LOL

The F-75 is a good detector, be sure to dig all signals that fall on the right side of the screen. Don't worry about numbers, just dig them. You will be surprised at what you will find and how deep the targets are.

Re: A "Gold Day"............

I really appreciate all the encouragement, but, I am already addicted and have learned the language of the F75 rather well. After almost 6 months of ownership (first detector), I believe I am well above average, however, I do realize there is more to learn from practice/experience.

Ringfinder, I have been digging more than just signals on the "right side" of the screen........as I said, anything 20+ VDI is a target for me.

Chug and Red, the "slow" hint was fully realized about a month ago. I found out I could pick a nickel out of the middle of a swarm of tabs by slowing down and picking out the 29/30 VDI using about a half inch, back and forth sweep. I dug 7 nickels (plus some dimes, quarters and pennies) in just over an hour going over an area around some picnic tables that I formerly had given up on because it was "too trashy."

Have I mentioned that I love this hobby/addiction?

"One of my better finds!?" What? All of the rings I have found, so far, are much better than this one......look at my avatar.......I have two James Avery rings and four others. Even my cowgoat is better than this faux gold ring!

Re: A "Gold Day"............

Looked like a Fun day out, hope the next hunt brings you a real nice gold ring.
