Wow :o A great find. Those saddle shields were all supposed to have been made at Richmond Arsenal. They book for $450.00 to $650.00 Good Job!!!!!!

I am in awe of that saddle shield. The chain links also intrigue me as I found 2 nearly identical links just last week.

Here it is after a gentle brushing. Didn't do any detail work around the C and S, as I'm pretty accident prone! Still needs more attention but I tend to take it slow. Thanks for all the thumbs up.

Looked the same. I don't see any cracks on yours. These are rarely found anymore. I have never had my hands on one. I have only seen pictures. After some thought, I agree with BB and will formally nominate the shield for BANNER!!! HH, Quindy.
