I have a Master's in EE, 21 years in chip design, 20 years in metal detector design.

Impressive and I see SDCFIA is impressed to. How many of those years was out in the field testing equipment or are these the metal detectors at the airport you walk thru. I just wanna make sure I’ve got someone steering me in the right direction of Treasure instead of away from it .Seems to me that no American company has really made a deep seeking detector that is affordable and goes more than 6 feet that the general public could operate and you don’t need a electrical engineer instructions on how to operate it. Kind of odd.

Been metal detecting since I was 12. Currently in Hawaii testing on the beaches, heading to Oz after that for the gold fields. Few people are looking for anything >6ft so such a detector would sell very few copies and therefore cost more. Also, the deeper you go the larger the target must be, and therefore the larger the coil, and the more current you have to pump. It's doable, but it's a custom design. See if you can find a photo of the PI sled Eric Foster designed for the Fishers to locate the Atocha bars, that's what you want.

Here is a photo of Eric's Atocha detector:

It had a pulse current of 50 amps and ran on a bank of deep-cycle marine batteries. That's about what you will need for what you want to do.

The coil I use is almost twice that big, but less amps. 98" across pulse star ii octagonal, home made. Probably only go 6 feet on a pop can.

It is disappoinitng with all of that, if he don't ever has time, expertise or a good location & a nice Optio W to give it an honest try, but to criticize it seems.

[Treasure Auras]

As I recall you & your Folks used Polaroid in the beginning, then you experimented with various digital cameras & found the Pentax Optio W10 worked well for you, correct?

Yes I first heard of auras from the book Louis Matacia wrote and he said the sx70 polaroid could pick up treasure auras and I did work on a couple of auras caught with the sx70 which came out both green and red at a different sites (sadly those photos were stolen from me years ago). but just like with the optio aura locations there was zero doubt the auras caught with the sx70 were from treasures as the sentinels remarked those areas to death and they had the large boulder markers from the Catholics marking the spots as well. (This treasure site was one of the closest calls I had with sentinels)
Back in the 90s I was relegated to either the polaroids or film cameras and you could imagine shooting a thousand shots then pay for developing which got very spendy quick, so I decided to try different cameras from movie cameras to vhs-c and hi-8 tapes even some filming shoulder cameras which didn't work.
then in 98 my dad caught a huge aura with a canon film camera and two years later my mom caught an even bigger aura with the same canon film camera in 2000.
A friend gave me a aura picture that his friend gave him and he told me it was shot with a digital camera somewhere in the early 2000's so I bought a few different digital cameras which were expensive at the time as it was newish technology and I realized right a way I needed a camera that could stay in one spot and take shots by itself without me physically holding the shutter button down, I had windows XP back then so I could look at the digital pictures with them overlapping each other,(I had no luck at all with those cameras) It wasn't until around 2010 or so that I finally picked up a optio w10 and I believe it was on my second time I set up and took a thousand pictures that I caught my first real aura with real markers and sentinel planted markers which is what I show the alignments going to the crisscross spot in the end of my guide all the way back at the beginning of this thread (I have caught many since then with the optio) so there you have it my journey to this point of aura capturing.
