a large copper from the sneaky spot!

I have been kinda in a slump the last couple of weeks, mainly due to a lack of spots to hunt at the moment. for lack of a better place to detect, i decided to hit the ol sneaky spot again this morning. it has rained a bit and i figured i would give it a shot with the wet ground. when i got there i decided i would dig all of the repeatable iffy signals which there are a ton of! i wound up with 4 more Wheaties, a little religious medalion and this 1845 large cent! the large cent was a weird signal that i probably wouldn't dig at another spot. it looks like someone tried to hole it at some point since it has a punch in it. i was hoping to pull another silver coin outta there today, but to no avail. ::)

ill bet there is a couple more still hiding up there somewhere though.

anyway, i am happy with another coppa! this makes 4 out of there so far!

it has been a large cent week, hasnt it? seems like an awful lot have been found lately. if Kirk keeps up the way he has been going PA will be out of large cents!

Wow, are the Large Cents popping out of the ground this week or what! Good going, nice to see so many of the largies being found by so many in recent weeks.
My turn will come again, hopefully sooner than later.

Great find Red would love to see it all cleaned up. You said it was a signal that you normally wouldnt dig,could you be more specific? Ive never found one but have hunted in a few spots that I think one may be lurking in. I dig all manner of signals and cant imagine I would have missed something so large. Also are you using a smaller coil or the stock?...Shoot

you use an explorer. you know the kind of signal, kinda like a high tone but kinda warbly sounding as well, and not quite as high as a copper coin ought to sound. it kind of sounded like iron to be honest. i have found other large cents and they usually sound in nice and high and strong, like a coin, this one was different. it also rang in on the middle of the smart find screen instead of in the left upper corner. it wasnt till i got it out of the hole and was scanning handfulls of dirt that it started to sound and look the way it should have. it wasnt super deep, maybe 7 or 8 inches. the only thing i can figure is that it may have been laying at a strange angle. i was using the stock coil.
