This is a quartz crystal thumbnail scraper from the beach (Puget Sound). It's actualy amethyst with some little hematite balls and hematite needles. I can usually pretty well guess where Northwest material came from, but this one doesn't fit... I darkened one of the photos to better show the flaking scars. Sides A and B. Looks like it was a reworked point, until tiny !

I guess I'm having a problem understanding what you mean by the term " made of quartz crystal" ..microcrystaline and cryptocrystaline quartzite describes most every type of Flint and Chalcedony.

Google phantom quartz. I think you will find that the OP has his ducks in a row. Quartz has numerous variations. Not all are prism shaped, and many have impurities. Just wanting to help.

speaking of quartz, here is a nice "rose quartz" point from Nevada. there are places there where the hillsides are covered with this material...some in crystal form most not.

Nothing is prettier than a nice quartz piece. In my region especially.

Unique, and pretty little scraper! :icon_thumright: Nice to see! I have some topaz with ''needles'' of tin ore within them.

That's nice rock...
There are moderators here...you should take that up with them if you think they are not doing what they should.
More people move on from this forum because of page after page of posts lementing over rocks and miss information ..but hardly get any responce about a great find with very few knowlagable discussions about their finds.
Just thought I would add another piece of quartz.
Really like that rose quartz.

Thanks NC.

Aaww! That's precious.

Arguing with a new member about the type of material a nice point is made from is not only silly it is uncalled for......:banghead:
