Folks,
Here are my finds for the whole week, three hunts total. Today was my best hunt of the three:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgCGaqtufjk
I detected a small old house after work today and found:

*A men's 14K gold ring with three small diamonds (real?). It weighs 5 grams and is stamped "14K Starfire".

*A small gold :icon_scratch: pocket watch. The casing looks like gold and came out of the ground clean like gold usually does. Hopefully it's real.

*A small old ring with a tiny green stone and stamped "14 D" inside. Any ideas?

Other finds for the week were:
*A Wm. Roger's silver plated fork.

*1907 IH - bent. :(

*Wheats - oldest was a 1918.

*A nice CW era brass buckle

*Lead RR seal

*The cr-ppiest class ring ever made. Gold plated junk metal. The ring only says "High School" ;D :tongue3: :tard:

*Four leaf clover - found by my son walking the dog. ;D

* "H. Swett -Wake Forest" brass name plate. (circa 1930-1950)

*A large solid brass ball. Top of post???

*Asst'd other goodies.

Thanks for looking,
MM

Right on brother.

Those rings today certainly make up for the "class ring" from the weekend. Beautiful digs buddy...

Thanks Andy.
That has to be one of the worst class rings ever made. It's soo poor, I'll call it a "no class" ring. :tongue3: ;D
Your days coming buddy, and I hope we get it on film.

Awesome finds. What's up with the teeth?

Sorry, I couldn't resist. I found them laying on top of the ground at one of my spots. I thought I'd keep them in case I ever need dentures made. :tongue3:

Nice hunt Doug. Them teef are missing their grill ;D WTG on the gold and silver. How on earth can a penny get bent like that ???

I was wondering the same thing Ron. It's a smooth bend too, not like it was hit with a plow or mower. Weird. :icon_scratch:

Unless I am mistaken, I have a pocket knife exactly like the one at the bottom of the knife photo. It's a Case. I bought it in the mid 70s.

I also have a tag very much like the one with the hand-stamped address on it. I am told it was probably attached to the collar of a hunting dog.

Jsandin,
You are correct, it is a Case knife. As far as that tag, "thank you", I was wondering what it was for. I thought it came off a cart of mailbox, but the museum director thought it was dog related. Sounds like he was correct.

Awesome!!!
Love that ring with the little green stone...wonder what it is?

I like that find too Lairmo. It has to be turn of the century I would think. I've found others of the same quality in the past & stamped too. What I liked about this one other than the tiny stone in it still, is the fact that you can see how it got lost by the piece of necklace it was attached to.

Vol,
It's a LOT easier for me to get permission now indeed. I just scored a huge property that I'll be starting soon.
Have a great weekend,
MM

seriously nice finds, do you show the owners when you find gold such as the ring and the watch? I would think a lot of property owners would want to take it from you if you showed them you found it on their property.

Doug,

You sure do have some great places to hunt!!

Another great set of finds for you, buddy! Love that ring and old pocket watch!!

Two great articles about detecting in the UK in the W & ET mag that just came out. You guys are so lucky to have that kind of history there.
Great finds,

MM, you are gonna have everything found in NC before I get down there. Great bunch of stuff and I really love the watch!!

The ring & the watch are sweet.

I don't blame you for not showing them the gold

Sweet digs Doug, love that gold huh, congrats!!

I think I will be getting out this summer some, maybe not as much as a couple years ago but hopefully I can get the time to pillage a few schoolyards.

Smiles!
