A Little R&R on My 9 year Wedding Anniversary

Today is my 9 year wedding anniversary and I was fortunate enough to get out for a bit to hunt. Got out for an hour and a half today with my Dad at the spot he found yesterday. Found a 1920 wheatie as soon as I turned my detector on! Found three more wheats (1934, 1944, and 1956). Also scored my first silver quarter for the year! A 1947 Washington! Got that on video, will post later... But the best find of the day has to be the Chicago to Alton Railroad tag!!! My first!

Thanks for the great spot Dad!

HH everyone!

WTG, Brett!!!

Nothing like a silver George & a cool relic to help make a special occasion even more special! :)

Congrats on your finds and on your find from 9 years ago!

Great finds for a short hunt Brett!

A little history on the Chicago & Alton RR..

On 8th October, 1879, Jessie James and his gang held up the Chicago & Alton Railroad at Glendale, Missouri and stole $6,000. This was followed by other raids, in one, at Blue Cut, Missouri, in September, 1881, the gang killed the conductor and a pensioner. The governor of Missouri, Thomas Crittenden, now responded by offering a reward of $10,000 for the capture of Jessie James.

The first Pullman Sleepers (below) were built in 1858-59 from a rebuilt day coaches. The first overnight trip was made on the Chicago and Alton Railroad between Bloomington, Illinois and Chicago on September 1, 1859.

Cool pics....

I'm a big fan of those old tags, and that's a great one Brett!

After 9 years she still lets you go out and play with the boys! She's a keeper too!

Congrats on the sah-weet finds, Brett!

Nine years? Did you marry at 13??? When I first met you I thought you were younger than me...until I learned more. You've got good genetics!

I think your wife planted the silver just to get you out of the house!!

Nice silver and RR Tag. Not sure what the tags were used for. Any idea?

Congrads on 9 years.

Jim, here's the lowdown on the tags... Bretts tag was made by Wilcox, in Chicago, as mentioned
in this info...

Re: A Little R&R on My 9 year Wedding Anniversary

Congrats on 9 years. I'm working on 5 months on wednesday. Funny thing is I got married 01-16-2010......wanna know why.....easy to remember. All I have to do is to find one "01" Merc dime "10 in 2010", datead 1916 "16" . We all know there has to be the mint mark, but u get the picture. one '16 dime. Easy to remember.

Anyways, congrats on some cool finds...and welcome back aboard the silver train.
