I´m back from summer and from work, and at last I can post my incredible finds!!

These are the Spanish cobs. The ones I can read something on them are from Philip IV 1657 and 165(?), from the mint of Mexico OMP. They are Pieces of 8 and two pieces of 4.

I have not clean them yet, just a little of muriatic acid to take of the encrusted sand. The dark tone is from the marine environment oxidation I guess.

If anyone can help me on the best way to clean them, its greatly appreciate it.

Thanks for watching!

Wow, those are super cool. I would love to find some of those. My brother in law has a better chance though as he lives in Clairemont, FL. Great job.

The real experts are in the "spanish cobs" forum. These are super- nice cobs! Congrats. Did you find them yourself? I wish I would ever find one, wasn't lucky enogh yet.

Hi mate ! :hello:
Are you sure do not let any cob more in that field , deveria back and keep looking, some of these coins can reach 200 e. (Which are dated 1657, etc. :o ), it is rare that only six coins appear ... sure there's more.
For me are very clean, and corrosion patina that makes them more attractive, and enhance the appearance over the years.
A great find of a colleague who deserves my vote Banner...... but send my seal of Matrix in the closet. :laughing7:

Great cobs :headbang: that is something that I proberbly won't find, the safest way I know to clean them, would be with Jenolite :icon_thumleft:

On my wish list! Great job finding them! Hope you get to go back to find more!

Wrap them in two loose layers of aluminum foil. Submerge in a 5% sodium hydroxide solution. My dad used a couple of tablespoons to a 1/2 gal of water in a glass container. Use distilled water. My dad conserved coins from the El Capitana for RSOPS while he was in Ecuador in this fashion. They came out beautiful. The aluminum is sacrificed and the coins come out spotless. He was taught this method by the guy who set up the Odyssey labs in Fl.

Thanks a bunch to all of you, I´m very excited to have found them

I look for a long time, several times and no more came up, but dont worry I will go back

Thanks also for the cleaning tips, I do think that they should be somewhat cleaned, depending on each coin state.

Thanks again
