A navy eagle button? and a little silver!

Went out for an hour hunt today and scored a 1953-D Rosie a Collegiate Frank Holton and co trumpet mouth piece I believe and a navy eagle button? Any info on this button would be great unfortunately the back is almost completely gone. Thanks in advance and happy hunting!!

Thanks! Got me pretty excited pulling what appeared to be a huge chunk of silver out of the ground lol

Can you take a bit clearer picture and also give a measurement ( in millimeters if possible ). I assume it is a 2 piece button. A clear picture of the back may also help even though it is not in good shape, as you said. Nice finds.

I tried getting a better picture not sure if it is better or not I don't have a way of measuring milimeters but it's almost right on at 13/16" so 20.5-21mm I'd say.

You have an eagle button made after the Civil War "fashioned" Navy style but most likely had a steel back (that has rusted away) and was probably made as early as the late 1800s but as the Navy motiff fashioned civilian buttons are produced to this day and with the absence of any back marks on this one its difficult to pin down exactly how old this button is. I'd venture a guess of about 50-100 years old but its a wide open guess.
