Rained most of the day and shortly before I got off work it stopped. I went to an area where I thought I had permission for a grass field to detect but I was wrong, only plowed fields and planted wheat fields so I detected a plowed field that still had some wheat stubble as I was burning daylight. Found two plain buttons, an air inflation needle for balls and this nice buckle dating from 1500-1650, found the same in my buckle book.
The following are pictures of one prize I won on a forum, all of it and a few relics I did not include. They came with two nice display cases. The most awesome prize I have won on a forum contest, it is great to touch history!. The first picture are relics from the Boer (Farmer) War fought in South Africa from 1899-1902. A cannon friction primer, 4 British coat buttons, two canvas buttons, a cannon primer, two different lead canister shot, 4 bullet casings from a British 303 and Boer Martini Henri and another type o Boer casing.
Several examples and calibers of CW bullets, one bullet was converted into a musket nipple protector.
A partial Infantry Eagle Breast Plate, the left plate is a replica. This will make a nice display.
Civil War relics. A bayonet scabbard tip, partial Infantry insignia, 3 percussion caps, cannon friction primer, 3 knapsack hooks and a D ring and a CW button. What an awesome prize, Thanks John!!! HH, Mike
