The heat and humidity had backed off enough to make a trip to a local park feasible.
Tried places where I would not normally spend much time. Tried the bases of trees and bushes and parts of the green that were not generally attractive looking. There were coins in these places, so I learned a little about where to detect. Also found coins in my walks between these places. Dug everything that was close to a poptop on the dial. Found many poptops and also more nickels than I usually find. Finally my knees and back told me it was time to head back to the barn. On the stroll back to the car I hit one last good signal and it turned out to be a sterling silver ring with a blue stone.
A pleasant way to end the afternoon. Under magnification I could see a few letters and also the word Sterling.
