A strong start - season 6

The flip side to some of your comments is what if a couple of episodes ago they mentioned there might be a drill strike coming. Most on here would have said they are just making excuses ahead of time for not finding anything or for the drilling to stop for the year..

I wonder how close the new drill hole 3 is to everything else and or to where they think the original MP was. They are finding chunks of wood so someone has been down there, or maybe it is just back fill stuff. Who knows..

AT the end of the day it is a TV Show so they do things to try an add drama, and or suspense. It would be a very boring show if they just put body cams on everyone and we got to watch them stand there while someone else digs a hole.. or washes rocks, etc...

and I'm sure back in the day, it was more easily to believe in buried pirate, religious, etc treasure then it is today. As no one ever found it the people into the 1900's figured it was still there...

Back in the day we had no internet, so we had to rely on imagination when we read something , or was told a wondrous tale of pirates and treasure .... The movie played in our heads as we read or listened, the more detailed , the bigger the movie . ...

Below is an excerpt on Oak Island from Henry Poole’s 1862 Report that appeared in the Journals and Proceedings of the House of Assembly of the Province of Nova Scotia (Google Books).

“I crossed the ferry to Oak Island, and observed slate all the way along the main shore; but I could not see any rock in situ on the Island. I went to the spot where people have been engaged for so many years searching for the supposed hidden treasure of Captain Kidd. I found the original shaft had caved in, and two others had been sunk alongside. One was open and said to be 120 feet deep, and in all that depth no rock bad been struck; the excavated matter alongside was composed of sand and boulder rocks, and though the pit was some 200 yards from the shore, the water in the shaft (which I measured to be within thirty- eight feet of the top) rose and fell with the tide, showing free communication between the sea and the shaft, and I could not see any indications to justify the report that gold had been washed out of the sand.”

Based on this report, it would seem that they are digging too far into the interior of the island for the original money pit.

Odd that he used 2 different types of measurement in the report. Feet and Yards. Hard to tell by looking back at some pics but assuming he is measuring from the closet side of the ocean to the pit I'd say they are around the 200 yard area/ 600 feet... If anything they are to close to the water but keep in mid the water levels / tides have changed over the years and what time of day he got his measurements etc... could easily be plus or minus 25' - 50' or so....

Interesting, I have misread the excerpt about 10 times. I thought it said 200ft not 200yds based on the 120ft depth mentioned first.

That is what it looks like now.. There is no way that they were at 100+ feet in Site 3 and bringing up stuff in the middle of the day. Then went home and the next day come back and everything had been cleaned up and everyone was on strike. They obviously had finished with site 3 before the strike. There are NO REPORTS EVER of the money pit having massive cut timbers at 100 or so feet so how could that be the pit. It is either a searcher tunnel or backfill. The strike (if there was a strike) happened after they already had decided there was nothing more of interest in Site 3.

They now have an excuse for coming back next season and digging more holes.

I wonder how close the new drill hole 3 is to everything else and or to where they think the original MP was. They are finding chunks of wood so someone has been down there, or maybe it is just back fill stuff. Who knows..
They have previously claimed each hole cost $1 million to dig.. So now they are just digging random holes based on nothing. The stop to drilling this year makes no difference to what they can find. The only thing they have found anywhere is wood (and the remains of those putting the wood there). If you want to know how close just grab a map of oak island and draw the lines through Nolans cross (but make sure you have the exact same angles as their looney.) I imagine next year they will come back and dig site 1 + 2. They gave no even rational as to why they believed these lines from Nolans cross show where the money pit is. It just makes zero sense... The strike if it happened was an amazing coincidence. Given the amount of lies they are now telling it has become virtually impossible to know when they are telling the truth. I am very disappointed the show is becoming a farce...

Yes they are now making a drama and have given up on telling the truth or really making any attempt to search for treasure. I imagine that this is the consequence of trying to make 30 episodes when they only have enough material for 10 at most.

I cannot begin to imagine how they will now fill up the reaming 11 hours....

Please Help Answer This Question...What TV Show Was Number 1 this Week...TV Cable?

If You Said...The Curse Of Oak Island...You Are...Right!

Once again, it was History Channel’s “The Curse of Oak Island” that stood tall at the top of the Tuesday cable ratings.

Are you making a case for ratings being equivalent to accuracy, or was there another point for this?

Hello fellow prospectors.

I just thought I would chime in on the operators strike back in the fall around here (N.S.)

It was just a weird coincidence...… It was crazy around here.
I run an excavator locally , I'm not in the union anymore (local 721) but there were strikers picketing at my job site downtown.
They were holding back cement trucks and causing lots of stress and drama for weeks.
I'm glad it got sorted out.

Also,
I took my girlfriend down the south shore here for a drive in 2017 summer.
We wanted to visit an old gold mine cave down there (the ovens ) but the tide was in.....so we took a drive out on Oak Island.

They were filming the show up the road from the museum type thing they have going on there.
They had signs everywhere saying no pictures.....but there was a little tight bum from the film crew that would take your pic with
your phone if you wanted her to.

I saw Dave B. walking down from where they were filming, so I chatted with him for a couple min. and got a pic.

After we left my girlfriend said he was squeezing her waist pretty tight. ( I shoulda broke his other arm ) joking lol

Also,
My boss has a cottage in Chester and one of his neighbors does sound...or lights for the show.

Buddy told my boss not to tell anyone.....but near the end of the 2018 season something went down.
He said at night (under the cover of darkness ) 6 brinks trucks were called to the island.....stayed about an hour....
and then all left together ten feet apart.

I never saw the trucks.....this is just what I heard.

Thanks for letting me share this.

Welcome to the forum.. Thanks for the share.. I will only believe in them finding treasure when I see some treasure.. Last season they planted rumors of a big find to keep people watching.. Then never found squat..

I hope they do find something that justifies the hundreds of years of searching… But I am very skeptical of "rumors"....

Only three people can keep a secret, and that's only if two of them are dead.

Dave...Sometimes a rating...is just...A Rating!

WELCOME!!!!!

Reading that made me flash back to the thread I've been following about the FBI and Dent's Run Gold.
Just need to add CSIS....Canadian Security Intelligence Service.

Respectfully, tim

Also, this is the third time the rumor of Brink's Trucks being on the island. The first one (that I remember) was in spring of 2017.

On last night's episode, the metal detecting team heads toward plot #1 and finds stuff among the rocks on the seashore. We learned that the Templars came to Nova Scotia and had 400 years to deposit $500,000,000 worth of documented treasure consisting of jewelry, pottery, and gold plated buttons *somewhere*.

They dug in Smith's Cove and found more of Robert Restall's wood work. Anyone remember where they were digging a season or 2 ago and found rocks that were declared a French Drain / Box Drain?

Next week: back to the swamp!

To me, the real star of the show is heavy equipment operator Billy Gerhardt.

A gold plated button is basically worthless- solid gold yes

Yes I remember thinking that is not much of a french drain, two rocks.

I always wanted to dig up a well and check the bottom but never did. I would not fit in that one anyway. It was interesting to watch. No secret iron door on a tunnel or chest at the bottom, sadly. At least the aussie guy got his pants dirty. I thought maybe the shinny thing was a coors beer can but no. Beer does not age well. Still one dollar is one dollar. A deposit on his next set of batteries. That button might be interesting. 50 bucks perhaps.

Yet I like their focus on finding something leading to the treasure pit (chamber). A path to the vault. And did the tunnel from pit 6 ever get to the chamber. Nope, so was it headed correctly?. No one has actually seen the treasure vault, right!

Did not someone say they encountered a tunnel filled with small rocks but it flooded at the last minutes effort. Did this small rock tunnel lead to the pit?

So to locate the money pit you have the original topside location, a tunnel run from bore hole 6, flood tunnel from the cove, and perhaps another small rock tunnel.

Something to note is that since the money pit is very flooded any tunnel or connection to the money pit will also be very flooded. If they find any sort of dry tunnel without water it will not be connected to the money pit. I expect the new wood work they found is not connected to the money pit but some sort of ancillary tunnel. Of course someone might have not cut the tunnel all the way thru or it is actually blocked against water. Maybe it leads to a blocked french drain connection.

How about sound. Could they track the path of water by listening to its sound as it run through the ground over rocks. Just an idea?

Oh well.

Later Joe.
