So what is true that was presented on the show? The cross? The spear tip? The bones? The book bindings? The broaches? The coins?
It is not what they are finding and presenting.. I do not think they are planting stuff (if they were it would be more convincing stuff).. It is just the unsupported conclusions they are jumping too. This backed up with "questionable" experts opinions which are just extreme and illogical..
The cross = What is fact? - A piece of lead that is cross shaped was found in Smiths cove. Unsupported assertions. 1. It is an ancient Cartergian cross of the goddess Tanit. 2. It is an Ancient KT cross. No evidence offered for either.. It is possible to date lead and they have not done this...
The spear tip = A piece of what appears to match a reasonable common old Canadian Giggin spear. These were common in the area. Unsupported assertions 1. A old crossbow bolt 2. The spear tip of an ancient roman spear. This in spite of not making any attempt to eliminate the most obvious answer and ignores how good of condition the iron is (limited rust for 2000+ year old thin iron pole buried in water/dirt). The is nothing that supports it a Roman spear other then a "expert" seeing a picture and saying it "looks like" a roman Pilum.
The bones = Interesting but findings are questionable. No more bone has been found. The conclusions drawn based on such small samples are questionable. Where are the rest of the two different skeletons? Bones do not disappear and they have dug the hole where they were found...
The book binding = The is no evidence this is a book binding. This is an assumption they are making. Even if it is a book binding it is not evidence of anything other then an old book was dropped in one of the holes treasure searchers have been digging for the last 200+ years..
The broaches = Two old (Not ancient) near worthless broaches. These have been found on a place that has human habitation for hundreds of years.. They show humans have been on the island. Nothing else.
Coins= No coins of any particular significance have been found. Old Spanish coins were common used currency back in the day. This is well documented. The other coins simply show that people with English coins dropped some on the island in the last couple of hundred years. The date of the coins does not mean the date they were lost. None of the coins they have found are valuable or rare.
Take away the "treasure legend" and look at the finds they have and one would expect similar finds could be made in any area inhabited by humans for a few hundred years.
None of it supports the treasure legend.....
It is not that they are faking finds.. Just making baseless, unsupported assertions about quite trivial and common finds....
