A strong start - season 6

Does Zena count in 7 must die? And where did that ever come from? Franklin have you ever come across that in your research?

It is only a superstition that 7 must die before a treasure is found. Superstitions are sometimes stronger than facts to some. As for Zena being the 7th death should not be counted as she was not killed on Oak Island. As for her book I have it and several others on order. I have read tons of the missions to Oak Island and the best I have found is the Zeno Diary. The more the historians try to disapprove of the diary the more it is proven as fact. So I believe Sir Henry Sinclair or at least the Sinclair Family came to Oak Island in 1398,

Season 6 is crawling along. Seems like one good episode then a ho hum one. Tough to fill 30 episodes. Reminds me of lunch when I was a kid. A fluff-another sandwich!! :tongue3:

So they were looking for searcher tunnel#6 that burrowed under the money pit and then flooded. Then one day they heard a huge boom and believed the money pit fell into the flooded tunnel releasing a huge debris field. So with all them holes they have done are are doing, where be the GOLD?

Is this still not in the same area Dunfield dug that HUGE 100' crater? All you gonna find there is all the scrap wood and trash he back filled into the hole before packing up and heading home. Right?

On the Cremona Map if you use St. Genevieve as the Prime Meridian, the maps latitude is correct and the longitude is only off by 3 miles. Right accurate for 840 years ago.

Episode 6 certainly showed why "normal" people do not spend a million dollars on seismic mapping. It does not show much of value really... If it cannot separate between different soil densities then it does not show much of anything useful. Well they dispelled one more "mystery" of Oak Island... No latrine/secret tunnel/steel plate etc there....

They keep finding these loonies... That lady was just talking unsupported rubbish.. What is the supporting evidence for any of her claims.. To claim the Scull and crossbones which may of been used by KT is the origin of this as a pirates flag. And this somehow proved the KT visited OI... Why?.. AS FOR that shows Nolan Cross was the built by the KT because of the (alleged) Skull in the middle....

The guy was worse... EVEN if they believed everything he said. The ground is not 2 dimensional so to say the treasure chamber is 80+ feet of to the side... but have NO INSTRUCTION as to which direction... I cannot believe that Rick thought the problem was they did not know where the original pit was... That did make me laugh..

I did wonder what Dan thought when he saw the money being spent on Smiths Cove... You do wonder if he thinks it all has gone a bit to far...

Accepting what they said the research shows about the cross as being accurate.. It does make one hope that some interesting things can be found in Smiths cove.

It must also be remembered that the location is simply where the lead come from. It does not show a) when it was mined b)When is was made into a cross and c) when it was dropped in Smiths Cove..

They need a lot of other supporting evidence before I think they can be claiming it is a significant find for North American history...

Im glad to see there are shortcomings with this technology (seismic mapping). I dont think they stated how many holes they drilled in that area, but not finding any anomalies that Dan B stated were there ( steel plate, timbers, tunnels, piles of poop, etc. ) casts doubt on some of his claims. (my opinion)
The lead expert... " according to the isotopes " made me laugh .
Dan B at Smiths Cove : The rubber will soon hit the road so to speak concerning ANY claims of finds in Smiths cove. Once dewatered and excavated ,finds will be proven true or false.

Agreed. Lead is an element and very stable. Some of the Lead isotopes have like a 15 million year half-life(!). What we have is what arrived when the earth formed. Because the original source may have been isolated it does not mean that it hasn't been recast and repurposed dozens of times since it was originally unearthed.

Exactly. I wonder how many of my tire weights or fishing sinkers can be traced to European sources. Or minie balls...

The preview for next week showed leaks in the cofferdam. oops...

Thats to be expected sheet piling is NOT watertight .. All that can be done is to dig a well point (sump) and pump the water out . Hopefully the pumping can stay ahead of the inflow of water , then stuff the real bad leaks with oakum or rope that will swell and reduce the water flow Thats about all that can be done.

Has anyone wondered why some things being in the ground for so long (16, 17 century) why they are only 6 to 8 inches down?

All metals will sink deeper into the ground with each freezing Winter until they fall below the freeze line or they encounter solid stone.

Or where they mined the lead for the crosses that they sell in the Rennes Le Chateau gift shop?

That’s my point exactly. I think Canadas Frost line is a little deeper than 6 Or 8 inches.

Frost line is between 2-3 feet (Nova Scotia).

Also one other point. Who here on tnet would ever think about rubbing the dirt off a broach with a stone or a coin from roman times, I know people here would not do that with a early 1900's coin. My personal belief is there is a little to much Hollywood being used. At the same time it is a good fun show to watch.

I got a large cent home from hunting along the old Chenango Canal route and then discovered it was a brown stained Kennedy Half when I carefully cleaned it. Normally I would have been delighted.

But your point is well taken. Rough handle jewelry and the stones and mounts fall apart. Rub a dirty coin to find the date and you take it down a grade or two.

But they probably knew what it was after the third or forth take of the scene and returned it to the prop man.

Notice if you Google these "consultants" the information will be "an actor who plays himself on the TV Series "The Curse of Oak Island".

Disappointing episode Tues night. I almost fell asleep twice watching last night.

No 100' void over by the "latrine"? Laughable. A tunnel with a latrine in it from hundreds of years ago so the Templars could poop between shifts of constructing the money pit? I was laughing so hard! So now that sizemic mumbo jumbo is garbage as the "void" was just soft sand? The "steel plate" was granite? Nothing over where 10x was dug?

The Templar / Pirate flag / Skulk n Cross bones tie in was so far reached. Another laughable segment. Come on Ginger, you can do better that that. You are to buy into in because she had that tattooed dude there and he is a current Templar. Ha! The Lags looked like they had some disbelif. Jack looked gun ho as usual. He is the best!

Now to the Mid Evil Cross! Biggest find ever in North America! Ok Marty, slow down a bit. It came from ancient times and has been sitting on the beach for 700 years... 5" down. Ha! Again laughable. It was never melted down over and over again through the centuries till the gift shop got it two years ago?

Dan was impressed with the tech at the coffer dam... what would you guess? 2 million to do that? Dam, give me the cash and ill drop some gold around for ya to find. It looks like next week its gonna spring a leak!

20+ more episodes to go! Not sure I can make it.
