A Three Ringer Day Is Fine By Me!

Headed out early this morning for a couple of lake hunts. Another hot day, and a nice cool lake made for some great hunting. I got a little loot and some jewellery.

Here's the closeup of the better finds. That bracelet came as a complete surprise. I thought at first that it must me a scrap piece of banding. Not so! I looked at it carefully and say some nice flower designs on it. I'm sure if it remained in the water for another couple of months, it would have completely dissolved. It was very this, and pretty well turned to silver oxide all the way through.

I had such a wonderful red sunset to keep my eyes entertained on the way home. Below is a pic of what it looked like.

Awesome finds! The bracelet looks "home made". The rings should say something in them like 925 or ster or sterling if silver. The earing will be marked most likely on the clasp or the piece that goes through the ear if it is real. Sometimes the mark is so small you need a magnifier to see it. Always fun to find rings!

The area I hunted is very old, and the water is very alkaline. It can turn a copper penny into a paper thin coin that you can bend in half. Silver gets a very thick layer of oxide, which often breaks off in layers. Any stamps would have worn off on the rings. That bracelet was shedding its oxide in layers, that's why those imperfections are showing up.
