Got out for a few hours in the heat today and only managed a mini ball until I finally got a deep good reading. The ground was like concrete and I was sweating like an ex husband at a child support hearing, but I kept digging. I was determined to see what the heck it was and finally, about a foot down, I see green. I started taking pictures of it as it was unearthed and you can see it as I did. Finally After about a half hour, I open the hole enough to pull out a US cartridge box plate. It was worth all the work ....[emoji16]

great recovery , you earned it in this heat.
If that had been me it would have been 2ft deep and show red for Budweiser in stead of that pretty green patina

You got yourself a nice one there. So many you see are beat up and ragged.

It's not on my bucket list due to where I live, but it sure is a super nice find. Grats and thanx for posting.

I wish those Confederates had invaded IL. Maybe I'd have a chance then. Fantastic find with great patina. Gary

Those pictures of gradual recovery exposing the green patina on that plate are awesome. I value such pictures as much as the find itself because they really capture the moment of discovery. Terrific find! :hello2:
