I was out detecting a little bit after work this morning in an old park site currently occupied by a City Hall/Police Station and the EMT garage. There's a LOT of fill and you really have to go sloooooow. After a lone Wheatie and chunk of harmonica reed, I hit what I thought was another wheatie (It was certainly acting like one). But lo and behold...out pops an 1872 (philly) Seated Dime! I guess if there's not to be a quantity of silver finds this year the quality will have to do! First silver of the year but definitely worth the wait!

SgtSki

Glad you got your first one this year. I'll take quality over quantity any day. I only have 6 silvers, but they are 5 Barber dimes & 1 beautiful Seated Liberty Quarter (my first ever). If I dont find any more this year I'm happy !!.

That is a really nice Seated coin, Congrats, I bet there are more good coins at that site.

My friends and I were in a town this spring and we hunted a square park area. My buddy dug a Nazi button and I dug a 3 ringer .58 caliber bullet. We think the park had just gotten some fill dirt put in. You just never know!!

Hey celtex , That's very funny - "a lazy lady" I haven't gotten one either in 3 and a half
years of hunting . Argentium.

Great dime Sarge! Was wondering if you were still around. Gonna pass thru your town this comming weekend. I'll spend it in Rubycreek with friends and family. Don't know if I'll pack a detector yet.
Still, good to see your out and about.

That's what you think, I'd go look at places they are tearing down. I hunted a spot like that in St. Pete along a water way. It was a bar and the owner told me to go across the street and hunt a building site that they were working on for a parking lot. I found a number 10 sleigh bell, a really nice one. You just never know!!

WTG!!!   :icon_king:

I'd trade all my silvers so far this year to dig a seated coin as nice at that one!

You waited to get your first silver, but it's definitely quality over quantity!
