Detector(s) used
Ace 250
Not exactly sure where to post this but, yesterday while packing up my Ace 250 at the beach some how, some way I lost the adapter the head set plugs in with. The head set that came with the Ace has a small(new style) plug and an adapter converting it to a large(old style) stereo plug to fit into the Ace.
Went to Radio Shack and got a new adapter but....it fits well but there is no sound.

Any ideas??

They make different adapters. stero an mono. Both have different plugs, just like your male plug. You can always try different adapters in the shop with the detector, or even new head phones.

Thanks Sandman

The head set says stereo the new adapter says stereo to stereo don’t know about the Ace though. Perhaps the Ace is Mono???

I am going to bulid an adapter that has a volume control built in to it. If it works I will let you know.

Absolutely keep me in mind. I do mostly beach and without the head set I’m sc%^&d. Hay I’ll also help with field R&D if you’d like. Although I’m a noob and don’t know how much weight my opinion will command.
Right now I’m a bit upset at my self because I wanted to go hunting in the AM instead of running to Radio Shack.
Do you happen to know if the out put of the Ace is mono of stereo?

Well made the trip back to Radio Shack to exchange the stereo adapter for a mono one. Works great!! Thanks everyone.
While I was talking to the kid at the store I questioned why they sold me a stereo one after I said it was for a metal detector. He said it’s because the detectors they sell are stereo and that it only costs a few cents more to make them that way? When I asked what brand he was referring to he said “Radio shack”
