Advice needed

Went to a river today with my new DetectorPro HH Underwater. Finding targets was not a problem, but digging them was. How do you all dig through the stone? I was using a T-Rex 9 1/2" scoop.
Had a heck of a time getting through golfball/tennis ball size stone. And most weren't even that big.
Only found two dimes and three cents and a bunch of nails, getting to them was the hardest part.

can't use any sand scoop into the stones! Put your mask on and go snorkeling and use your hand..and fingers��

With solid rock or stone bottom like you describe you need to do like frogmaster said and use snorkel and mask...

yea ive wrecked some stuff usin a scoop too, plus its like 20 minutes for one target, got a couple beaches like that. they suck cuz they hurt your feet too

How do you all dig through the stone?

I take my brother Jeff.

I'll yell, "Holy CRAP, sounds like GOLD!"

Jeff pushes me out of the way and starts digging.

He generally throws the coin at me and say's, "Stupid detector~"

I put the coin in my pouch and resume hunting.

"Holy CRAP, sounds like GOLD!"

Jeff pushes me out of the way...

You can also use medium down force w/your foot and swing the handle full fwd and full back wiggling it side to side without falling down but it's frustrating to say the least. Had to deal with this at the beach last week. Tons of targets and the rocks are a treasure trap, just a pain to get at and you also risk goofing up your Trex (which I have and I know it isn't cheap)

I agree with above...
Always a mask and snorkel in hip deepish or less water...

I know some who use a small garden "V" pick... and pick/flick the rocks outta the way...
Small garden shovels... and flick em away... etc.

OR... you can try my fav...
A large stainless steel salad spoon...
Which "fans" "one way" better than the other...
which if you are familiar with sediment and water digging and fanning is a "plus"...
And cups and flicks rocks well.

IF this sounds like something interesting to try for you...
Find one with some "beef" to it...
You can find one at any thrift store for 1 dollar or less.
