Do you know how many dollar signals I've gotten over 20 years detecting? Enough to give me trust issues, that's how many.

This last Sunday, the dollar signal was a actual silver dollar! Poorly struck, but in decent condition. It's a 1900S. Sorry for the crappy photos.

This was my first silver coin with my new Manticore. Not much of a test as it was only 4-5" deep.

I'll never find one of those, since I only detect at the beach
I found my first silver dollar, 1897O at a drained lake (Berkeley Lake) in the swimming beach area here in Denver. We were finding so much that someone did some research and found out that they hauled in new beach sand several times over the decades prior to all of our outside swim areas being closed due to the Polio outbreak. We were trenching to find deeper layers of finds. I had detected the spot and then shoveled off a thick layer of sand and got a solid signal about 10 inches down. I managed a couple of very small gold rings out of the same spot.
Never say never. Especially with this hobby.

Mountain player you did good :) Keep it up

That's a sweet looking Morgan, congrats!
I've found 3 Peace dollars so far, still waiting on that Morgan though.

It's entirely up to you but if you do decide to clean the Morgan ...
I've cleaned several badly iron stained Silver coins with a short soak in a Electrolysis Bath.
Or you could take it to a Coin Shop and have them dip it in "Coin-Solve" or similar.
I'll probably leave it as is, but I did consider electrolysis. I've got a very low current cell phone charger that I've used on small objects in the past. I've also heard about a technique using tin foil and no transformer. Can't remember the specifics, but it seemed to be very gentle.

What a cool recovery! That one is on my hit list!

Congrats on your first Morgan. You beat me time wise, it took me about 25 years to find my first one, but then I found 2 more in the same field 2 minutes apart and 3 years after the first one.

Awesome!!! Congrats!!!

Great find, thanks for sharing. I would be interested in knowing some basic details in terms of where you found it--park, school, lake, etc.

Regardless of condition I would be glad to have item you have It s more important to have found it than if you had purchased it is my guess so enjoy good luck in finding it and keep trying You never found one until this one So now you know it is possible So it is time to shut down the computer and get looking
