Hello again to everyone. It was way to hot to detect today so ill keep it short.

So as some of you know my favorite coin was stolen out of my car last week. It Really Sucked.

Had to get back out today for a little bit so I went to my usual park. I was making passes in front of a 1930s pavilion.

First not junk or clad find was a old heel plate. A first for me. Ill take it..

After some more clad and modern coin spills and a ton of can slaw I get a HUGE signal...

Out pops the Biggest nail I have ever seen. Its over a foot long! Not a clue what you would use it for?

After the nail I lined myself with the front door of the pavilion and just started walking a straight path.

In the middle of a bunch of 5+ inch deep clad coins out pops this beauty in the last hole of my morning! YESSS!!!

My First Buffalo Nickle !:hello2:

On the road to recovery ! More treasure awaits ! Nice finds !

At least you got another first!!

Congrats!!! Sorry to hear about your stolen coin, that's a real bummer [emoji852]

WTG on the Buff! Don't sweat over no date, it's still a Buffalo and you can display it proudly. I'm hoping karma kicks in on your coin thief, and someone takes something from him/her that they cherish. Hang in there Mil, keep digging and you'll find a better favorite coin. Ddf.

Nice saves. Congrats

Congratualtions on the first Buffalo nickel. :headbang:

Those Nickles are always well hidden , great find.

Could be from an old barn to hold large beams together in the barn, why the extra length. Might have been a old barn in the area somewhere? HAPPY HUNTING

I agree with Dig Deeper Now. It could have been a spike used to hold part of a barn together, or maybe even a pavilion where you were detecting. I have found 3 or 4 like that out in the farmers fields when I'm detecting. They always appreciate having those removed, when a tractor tire can cost up to $3000.00 Congrats on your first Buffalo Nickel also.

could have been a property marker

thats a cool nail first one that big ive ever seen glax you did well nice coin also

Congrats on the buff. It is a beautiful coin. One of my favorites.

The property used to be the farm of the Blatz (like the beer) Family in the 1800s and early 1900s. Became a park in the 1930s or so. There may have been a barn but this nail is very modern. It wasnt far from the pavilion which has big wood rafters. Ill have to look in the building and see there are any of these used for repairs. Thats what im leaning towards right now. Think its too big for a tent steak.
